‘C’ Uses Activity Budget to Donate to Food Bank

Our young person, C, recently decided to use her activity budget and support session to buy food for her local food bank 🥰

C had gathered a donation of £10 from her dad, £13 from her foster parents and then her Support Worker, Rachel, gave her a further £10, totalling £33 which she chose to spend in Aldi.

During the shop, C chose a variety of items including tinned food, toiletries, nappies, baby food and some treats for children. Rachel noticed how mindful C was of her spending and how considered her choices were.

Rachel chose Blackpool food bank as this meant C could make her donation face to face. C told the man working there that she had bought the items using money from her foster carers, dad and fostering agency.

The man working at the food bank was really grateful of C’s donation and kind heartedness. C told Rachel later that she was happy she could help as food banks had helped her when she lived at home with her mum.

Rachel was really impressed and proud of C for her generosity and how polite she was with staff at Aldi and the food bank.

C even got a letter from the Operations Manager at the food bank to say thank you!

We are so proud of C for her caring and thoughtful action and wanted to share the news with our community and wider readers. There can be a lot of unfair stigma around children in foster care, so we believe it’s really important to share these lovely, positive stories where possible.

Well done, C, you’re brilliant!
