Recognising our young people’s achievements!

Foster children often find themselves unfairly with labels like ‘naughty’ and ‘difficult, we’re here to challenge that!

We have a wonderful community of children and young people living with our foster carers and it’s really important to us that these children learn to recognise and celebrate their achievements. So, like embarrassing parents, we are going to shout about how proud we are every time we see our children doing amazing things and nobody can stop us!

To kick off this new segment, we have TEN brilliant achievements to tell you about!

  • 'R' performed various songs, AMAZINGLY, on the drums at a sold out gig in front of lots of people. His drumming skills are incredible!

  • 'C' was recognised by CFC for her patience & help with the younger children at our summer BBQ - such a superstar!

  • Casey was recognised by CFC for her fantastic ‘welcome boxes’ created for new children coming into CFC. Casey went above and beyond to help other young people and we are so proud!

  • 'F' received an education award, nominated by his previous social worker

  • 'L' has been nominated for a North Yorkshire Community Award at youth group

  • 'M' has been awarded a certificate of recognition for helping with voluntary work and having a great start to secondary school!

  • Well done 'M' for getting wonderful feedback from your Health and Social Care teacher, Maths teacher and for getting Science Wizard of the Week!

  • 'C' has been nominated for an award at the Believe and Achieve Awards for his musical talent

  • 'A' has been nominated as a ‘Role Model’ in the School Leader course he is taking part in – Well done, A!

  • 'J' passed his driving test!

Everyone at CFC is so proud of our young people doing these fab things but in many ways, we hope this reminds people that children and young people in foster care are just children. Foster children want to feel ‘normal’, they want to feel like everyone else and they are but often, they are making their way through the world having faced lots of adversity, so these achievements are being made in spite of the extra challenge they’ve faced and that’s big!
