We've opened a new office in Workington!

There was plenty of cheering when Community Foster Care held an open evening to celebrate the opening of new premises in Workington.

As the charity marks its 21st anniversary, Chief Executive Mark Kingston said the move to our new bigger offices “marks an important step in our coming-of-age strategy”.

“When Community Foster Care started life, it was inspired by a belief in local communities.  The aim was to invest in these communities and together provide loving homes to the children in our care,” he said.

“Our new office base in Workington will provide a much needed hub for learning, training and support to our Foster Carers and the children in their care.  For us having local accessible offices for our foster carers is critical.”

More than 20 people attended the open evening which included a cake sale, clothes sale and raffle.

Emma Weaver ‘Registered Manager’ said “Community is very much part of this organisation”. “The new office space will enable us to provide local training and support as well as a space for therapeutic sessions with foster carers and children.”

Chair of Trustees Judge Charles Wade added: “We’ve been established and working with in the Cumbrian community for over 10 years now.  This further investment marks our commitment to providing high quality foster care to children and young people in Cumbria.   I and the Trustees are confident that it will have a major positive impact upon the future of the charity.”

Mark thanked everyone who makes the work of Community Foster Care possible. “I am lucky to lead an organisation with such fantastic carers and staff. You really are remarkable,” he said.
